I really love all the kindle books here on , I have recieved this at a free or reduced price to give my opinion. My opinion is that I love the idea of being able to read on the go with my iPad not wasting trees. This book came into my kindle collection at the perfect timing. I am currently teaching my students all about the different animals of the world. I was pretty excited to read "Venomous Animals of the World ". They like to learn about all things that are creepy and potential dangerous animals. I think the students have a sense of fearlessness which intrigues them especially when it comes to the topic of science.
Recently, I taught a lesson on the deep dark ocean and introduced just some of the life forms that appear in the ocean.
Our curriculum touches on the subject, but I'm always looking for ways to supplement my learning materials in the classroom. I thought it was interesting that this book actually talks about animals who have different spots. It never even crossed my mind to explore animals with similar color patterns.
Digital I do feel is particularly the way to go as long as your class has a kindle, Ipad or computer. In addition, I can pull up these digital books on my smart board if I access the online books through a computer. This gives all my students a front row seat to the learning.
The pros
This book is straightforward. I like the actual photographs.
The cons
However, I feel that the book can be a bit more interesting with some expressive language. I know it should be factual, which I like, however I feel the tone should be a little more appealing to a younger audience.
Overall conclusion
With that being said, I do think that this book can be one used in order to spark conversations among students, teachers and other educators. It is a way for students to relate science to the real world instead of just reading cartoons or watching movies.
Lately, I have ordered a significant amount of Baby Professor Books in exchange for providing honest reviews of their products. I am an elementary teacher and also an aunt. I am constantly looking for books that will grasp the attention of my students and beloved relatives. I like to let students take charge of their own learning. When I see that students are reading on their own, it just makes me so much more excited to teach. What this book does is encourage students to explore their topics of interests. I like the clear photographs and the vivid images. The close ups of the creatures are great.
In addition, what I like to do is also just use in my kindle in whole group and small group discussions. Occasionally, I let my students work together and read their books electronically. I like them to learn at their own pace and gravitate towards books that grasp their attention as learners.
I think the Baby Professor books are encouraging students to explore their interests throughout their learning journey. I have reviewed baby professor books of different subjects such as history and science and math. What each book does is provide information, allowing students and teachers to create environments of learning. It also provides colored photos . We discuss the topics and then write down questions that we have which we would still like to explore.
Baby Professor Science books leave students with information and photos which can spark their interests. I look forward to reading more of their books in my class and am glad I was able to add these to my classroom library. I do look forward to adding more books similar to this to my class library . I don't think you can ever really add enough books especially digital ones to a collection.
